Book launch

The Book Launch party for The Unfolding and Refolding of Kelsey Galileus, by Sadie Kaye, will be on 7th September at Purple Gallery, 229 Mary Vale Road, Bournville, B30 2DL, from 2.30pm. There will be readings from about 3.30pm. Many thanks to the Purple Galley for hosting this. As well as copies of the book for inspection and purchase, the gallery will be displaying artwork for sale, including at least two of Sadie's.

The book is a collection of poetry written between 2022 and 2024 charting Kelsey Galieus's coming out and transition as a trans woman. The style is often humorous, allegorical, pointed and frequently angry - for the way Kelsey is mistreated, mislabelled and misjudged by people who have never met her but act as if they know her better than she does herself. Although the focus is on transition for a trans woman, many of these themes are (sadly) highly relevant to others in today's society.

There are 45 poems here, ranging in length from 2 lines to several pages, a prose poem as a prologue, 12 black and white illustrations, and a closing biographical note. The book was printed as a limited edition of 100, and all copies are signed and numbered. The sale price is £16, and the book can be purchased directly from me.
